Suspension of Play by the Committee. RoG, Rule 6-8b Note, Rule 30-3e(ii), Rule 31-7b(i) and Appendix I Part C 5; Decision 6-8b/7 and Decision 30-3e/1. Condition of Competition. Revised 2014-12-19.
IN DEPTH: When the Committee suspends play, due to e.g. darkness, fog, hail, lightning, rain, snow, strong winds or the course has become unplayable for other reasons, this is done in accordance with Rule 6-8b
. "When play is suspended by the Committee, if the players in a match or group ("Ball") are between the play of two holes, they must not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If they have started play of a hole, they may discontinue play immediately or continue play of the hole, provided they do so without delay. If the players choose to continue play of a hole, they are permitted to discontinue play before competing it. In any case, play must be discontinued after the hole is competed".

"As there have been many deaths and injuries from lightning on golf courses, all clubs and sponsors of golf competitions are urged to take precautions for the protection of persons against lightning. If the Committee desires to adopt the condition in the Note under Rule 6-8b (Appendix I Part C 5, Suspension of Play Due to a Dangerous Situation) the following wording is recommended:
"When play is suspended by the Committee for a dangerous situation, if the players in a match or group are between the play of two holes, they must not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If they are in the process of playing a hole, they must discontinue immediately, and not resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If a player fails to discontinue play immediately, he is disqualified, unless circumstances warrant waiving the penalty as provided in Rule 33-7. The signal for suspending play due to a dangerous situation will be a prolonged note of the siren."
In youth-competitions the Committee may want to inform the players in accordence with the information available on the "Elsäkerhetsverket" homepage and the followoing sentences can be added:
Take cover in a low location. Avoid free areas and single trees, drop your golfclub, crouch and keep your feet together.

When play is suspended due to e.g. rain the Committee may request the players to return to the club house.

Under Rule 6-8a (i) "the player may discontinue play if he believes there is danger from lightning".
The Committee may not be able to asses the weather on the whole course and in a dangerous situation the player must sometimes discontinue play on his own accord and take cover.

When the Committee, under Rule 6-8d, request the payers to resume play it must be resumed from where it was discontinued, even if resumption occurs on a subsequent day. When play is to be resumed, the Committee may either use the signal for resumption of play
(Two short notes of siren, repeated) and/or give an exact time for resumption of play. If an exact time has been given there is no need to use  a signal.

Suggested wording. The red sentence in bold letters may be used in youth competitions. This Rule shall always stand under its own headline.
