Damage Caused by Animal Hoofs RoG Rule 25-1, Decision 33-8/32 and 33-8/32.5. Local Rule. Updated 2015-11-03.

IN DEPTH: From Decision 33-8/32: "A Committee may,  by Local Rule, declare damage that is clearly identifiable as having been caused by animal hoofs to be ground under repairHowever, if there is a strong possibility that animals may cause hoof damage to putting greens, and the extent of the damage could make it impracticable to take relief under Rule 25-1b(iii) the Committee may make a Local Rule permitting the repair of such damage on the putting green."

Animals with hoofs include i.e. cows, deers, elks, horses and boars.
Note that the Committee may instead use the local Rule about damage caused by non-burrowing animals - click to link or introduce preferred lies both on through the green and on the putting green - click to link.

Suggested wording. The red-coloured title and the penalty may be removed when this Rule is placed together with other local rules under a specific headline.
