Mushrooms on Putting Green. RoG Rule 25-3b(iii); Decision 16-1a/15. Local Rule/Temporary Local Rule. Revised 2014-12-02.
IN DEPTH: Mushrooms (usually common mushrooms or puffballs) on a putting green may grow so rapidly that within a couple of hours they may interfere with the play. The Committee may declare mushrooms to be ground under repair and in that case the player may take relief, without penalty, under Rule 25-1b (iii) when the ball touches any mushroom, when mushrooms interfere with the players stance or the area of the intended swing or when they intervene on the line of put.
Note: The Committee may deem that interference by mushrooms with a players stance is not to be, of itself, interference under this Rule.

Suggested wording. The title and the penalty may be removed when this Rule stands together with other Rules under a specific headline.
