Placing-Corridor on Putting Green. RoG; Definitions, Ground Under Repair; Rule 20-1 and 25-1b(iii). Temporary Local Rule. Revised 2014-11-28.
IN DEPTH: If a putting green is in a bad condition e.g. due to equipment break down, mildew or vandalism there may still remain a corridor or sector which is fairly undamaged. The Committée may then either shorten the stipulated round by not using that hole or allowing the player maximum available relief under Rule 25-1b(iii). In exceptional cases the Committee may define, with white spray lines, a sector or corridor on the putting green which it considers offers maximum available relief, in which the hole is placed, and allow the players, as an additional option, to place the ball in that corridor at a spot which is as far away from the hole as the spot where it lay.
That point may be off the putting green.

Suggested wording. If the Committee finds that the players knowledge of the rules are adequate the three redcoloured sentences may be removed. This Rule shall always stand under its own headline.

Placing-Corridor on Putting Green
A player whose ball is on the putting green on hole ... may either take relief under Rule 25-1b (iii) or, as an additional option without penalty, place the ball in the white-lined corridor at a spot which is as far away from the hole as the spot where it lay. A player may place his ball only once, and it is in play when it has been placed (Rule 20-4). If the ball fails to come to rest on the spot on which it was placed, Rule 20-3d applies. If the ball when placed comes to rest on the spot on which it is placed and subsequently moves, there is no penalty and the ball must be played as it lies, unless the provisions of any other Rule apply.
If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it he incurs a penalty of one stroke.

Penalty: Match play - Loss of hole; Stroke play - Two strokes. If a player incurs the general penalty for a breach of this Local Rule, no additional penalty under the Local Rule is applied.
